Basingtostoke, Hampshire

Red Rock completed a slope stability assessment for different slope sections and developed a soil nail design to improve their stability.

In collaboration with Vertical Technology Ltd, Red Rock were commissioned to design the stabilisation the failing cut slopes around a commercial park.  The failures affected oversteepened London Clay slopes (over 25 degrees) which developed shallow to medium depth failures above the toe wall.

Analysis of the high plasticity and fissured London Clay slopes required 10m long soil nails, with raking and surface drainage systems. Locally slope re-grade was also required.

A major issue was the disposal of flush from the soil nail holes, and Vertical Technology developed a system to collect, drain and ultimately compact the arisings to minimise wastage  costs.
