Popham Railway Cutting, Hampshire

During the lockdown, our team of IRATA qualified engineering geologists managed to complete a slope inspection of the extensive chalk cutting situated between the two tunnels at Popham. With coronavirus restrictions in place, the work had to be modified slightly from original plans, but a successful possession period during fine weather aided the data collection and allowed Red Rock to provide a robust and durable stabilisation design for this problematic section of mainline track.
