Red Rock Geoscience is a geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy who has a reputation for solving problems on difficult development sites and taking a managed risk approach to challenging geotechnical and geo-environmental problems.

The Associate will support our geotechnical design services for a wide range of clientele on a variety of local, national and international projects. They will be responsible for managing our experienced team of Geotechnical Engineers and support the future growth and development of the team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is either an Associate Geotechnical Engineer looking for greater responsibility and autonomy or a Principal Geotechnical Engineer who is ready to take the next step up in their career.

We have a great list of current projects including:

Slope and cliff stability assessments in some of the most scenic parts of the UK,

Soil and rock slope stabilisation design,

Engineered earthworks and ground improvement,

Foundation designs on geologically challenging sites and high-rise developments,

Contiguous pile / sheet pile retaining structures.

We are seeking candidates that are confident, numerate, technically proficient and prepared to think outside the box. You will be involved in all aspects of the business including client liaison, preparing estimates, and managing junior members of staff. You will exercise oversight over the office to ensure staff and resources are deployed effectively. You will be comfortable in communicating with other design disciplines (e.g., structural and civil engineers) on multi-disciplinary projects.

This role is based at our easily accessible offices just outside Exeter, which has ample parking, and we offer a flexible working environment.

Whilst some projects will be based in the local area, the role may also involve working on projects in other locations throughout the UK and even overseas.

Essential Criteria:

BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or a related subject.

Preferably an MSc in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering.

Chartered Engineer or Geologist (CGeol or CEng)

Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.

The ability to lead teams working on projects.

Full UK driving licence.

The Individual:

Good verbal and written English.

Positive, self-motivated and proactive strategic thinker with proven senior management skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to express ideas and effectively motivate junior Engineers. 

Well organised with an effective problem-solving outlook and ability to prioritise own work and that of others.

Good ability in ensuring teams achieve programme deadlines and use of motivational techniques.
